LEAD CONSTRUCTION MANAGER – BIRMINGHAM

Recclesia, one of the UK’s leading historic building conservation specialists, is currently working with two of Europe’s most prominent and innovative engineering and construction companies – Laing O’Rourke and Murphy – who have come together to form LM, a powerful joint venture, supporting the growing number of major transport infrastructure projects across the UK.

Recclesia has been commissioned to design and deliver specialist conservation and user amenity upgrade works to a grade one listed building of national historic importance as part of the enabling works for High Speed Two.

The Recclesia and LMJV teams are working together to provide a professional and dynamic service. On the back of a wealth of experience in planning, design and community engagement, we are utilising the latest construction methodology to deliver works, efficiently and safely, but all in the context of this highly significant heritage site.

Main purpose of role:

  • To lead the on-site Recclesia project team in the efficient and effective delivery of the work packages from launch through to on site delivery whilst at the same time safeguarding the historic integrity of this highly important building.
  • To liaise closely with key functions and parties including HS&W, procurement, commercial and engineering to enable delivery in line with the client’s requirements and HS2 KPIs.
  • To liaise with and report directly to the Contracts Director and Managing Director.

Key responsibilities and duties:

Role specific

  • Responsibility for successful delivery of the work package from launch through to delivery
  • Deliver package works in compliance with client expectations, Recclesia standards, LM objectives and KPI systems
  • Responsibility for fostering an understanding and appreciation for the sensitive nature of the historic building throughout the management team, site staff and sub-contractors, and for decision making within a heritage context.
  • Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase.
  • Co-ordination of construction staff on work packages
  • Close liaison with Project Director with regards to work package progress and any potential obstacles
  • Responsibility for work package construction resources including Labour, Plant and Materials.
  • Overall performance management of subcontractors.
  • Ensures that the construction and installation teams are accountable for their performance against agreed schedules and man-hour budgets.
  • Ensures that all construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Ensures that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with agreed quality procedures and inspection test plans.
  • Fully manage design completion and monitor design change
  • Contribute to coordinated construction planning, programming and sequencing

ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR – BIRMINGHAM / CHESTER

  • To assist in the commercial management of an NEC3 contract using CEMAR software working alongside the senior Quantity Surveyor, working to manage risk and risk reduction measures both up and down stream.
  • To assist in the assessment of subcontractor applications and reconciliation with up-stream contract events, EWs and CEs.
  • To assist in the certification and payment of subcontractor applications and issue notices and notification of payments as required.
  • To assist with all internal commercial requirements.

Key responsibilities and duties:

Role specific:

  • Assist in the management of contract correspondence to ensure compliance with the NEC3 timescales and 'reply' periods.
  • Assess and evaluate subcontractor CEs and instigate/reconcile up-stream CEs.
  • Prepare Management Team CIs to subcontractors.
  • Ensure that all new contracts have an accepted baseline programme and scope.
  • Assist in ensuring that all subcontract reporting requirements are met.
  • Assist in the completion and maintenance of information and KPIs required by the client.
  • Assist in generating costflow forecasts and reports to accounts department
  • Assist site management team with commercial issues and contractual support.
  • Attend client-facing and internal review meetings and take care of day to day interface with client project management team.
  • Assisting with procurement of sub-contract works packages as required
  • Assisting with wider commercial demands of the company including involvement in other projects if required
  • Attend all commercial meetings and assist in the collation of information for the monthly commercial report to the Directors.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Thorough commercial understanding of the NEC3 Form of Contract
  • Previous experience using CEMAR system (training can be provided if not)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office & SharePoint

Base: Primarily Birmingham for duration of HS2 Project. Chester / flexible thereafter.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Recclesia, one of the UK’s leading historic building conservation specialists, is currently seeking applications for the role of Administrative Assistant.

Main purpose of role:

  • To assist in the administrative requirements of the company office and provide support principally to the accounts, procurement and commercial staff.
  • To provide secretarial and administrative support to the management team.
  • To liaise with sites in collection of data and paperwork as per the company’s internal systems.
  • To keep the offices organised and efficient.
  • To provide secretarial support.

Key responsibilities and duties:

Role specific:

  • Assist in the management of contract correspondence
  • Assist with the preparation of commercial documents
  • Assist accounts and commercial staff with updating logs and data entry
  • Take minutes of meetings, write them up in a set format, distribute
  • Keep a strict filing policy and keep shared data organised
  • Manage incoming communication and enquiries (email & post)
  • Keep constant contact with all Recclesia conservation sites to obtain site records and KPI data, and provide administrative support required by the contract management teams
  • Assist the management team with production of internal documents
  • Prepare and upload content to the company website
