Some of our key historic metal object conservation areas include statuary, bronze items, cast iron, wrought iron, small historic bridges. Our team has completed metal conservation works on projects ranging from wrought iron gates and bronze statuary, to large historic steel casement windows. We also fabricate and install bespoke protective guards for stained glass windows, counting Chester and Bangor Cathedrals amongst our clients.
All of the work our team carries out is preceded by careful analysis, research, and consultation with stakeholders, owners, or clients. As with all of our conservation specialisms, all of the techniques and materials we utilize during works are fully documented.
The team is assisted by our heritage consultant, Lee Bilson, who has himself provided metal conservation services on projects such as the RIBA award winning Swiss Gardens Restoration project which included the conservation three grade II* listed bridges and the Grotto-Fernery, Conservation works to The Temperate House RBGK, Lead Statuary at Blenheim Palace, and the restoration of the Sovereign’s entrance gates at The Palace of Westminster to mention but a few.
As a result of the combined and very broad experience of our team means we believe that we can help to conserve any metal artefact or structure. If you have a project you think we could help you with then please feel free to contact our offices.
