The Story :
The west windows, one by Shrigley and Hunt, were in a very poor state of repair and were letting in the weather quite badly. The windows were removed for studio repair work.
Whilst the studio-based work was underway, Recclesia were instructed to carry out internal and external cleaning of the stained glass and decorative leaded lights throughout the rest of the church, including the Jones and Willis East Window. Insitu cleaning of stained glass is a painstaking process, but the removal of 150 years of cobwebs, candlewax and layers of dust was well worth the work! The windows were transformed and light levels in the church were dramatically increased.
Recclesia also replaced the opening sections of all the windows with new stainless steel inward opening hopper casements and installed new protective guards to the East Window.
