The William Morris Tree of Life Window after reinstatement.

The William Morris Tree of Life window on completion.

The window is unusual in that it was commissioned by a Muslim family for a Christian church with instructions that it was not to depict people or animals.

The lancet head undergoing re-leading

The head of one of the lancets during work on the bench, laid out on a working rubbing. This particular section was releaded in full, although in other sections some retention of original came was possible, which is good conservation practice.

The glass was cleaned of its loose detritus, but was not over-cleaned or invasively cleaned to ensure the integrity of the material.

The new lead came was selected to match the original profile. Whilst the lead had failed severely, causing some 39 broken sections and loss of historic glass, the remaining glass was in exceptionally good condition.

Stainless steel protective guards by Recclesia

External stainless steel mesh protective guards were installed. These are powder coated in a matt black finish for minimal aesthetic impact upon the exterior face of the building.

Recclesia fabricate the templated guards in house and do not sub-contract the work to others, meaning consistently high standards at very competitive prices.
